Proposed school day closure – Judge Lane, Randwick

Randwick City Council has received a request from Claremont College to close part of Judge Lane, Randwick. Claremont College is a K-6 primary school, which is located fronting Coogee Bay Road. The College has buildings on either side of Judge Lane which students and teachers cross to access each side of the campus throughout the day.

The school has requested Council to consider installing boom gates on Judge Lane to close the lane on school days between 8am and 4pm. The school believes this will make it safer for children to move from one part of the school to the other.

If Council approve the request, the proposed boom gates would only prohibit access by motor vehicles (cars, trucks, motorbikes etc.). People who are walking, pushing prams, riding motorised wheelchairs/mobility scooters, or riding a push bike will continue to have access to Judge Lane at all times.

Randwick Council wants to know what you think about this proposal. You can let us know by completing our online survey before 9am, Wednesday 9 August 2017.
