What is I Am Local?

I Am Local is a Randwick City Council initiative to celebrate living, studying and working in Randwick City.

How do I take part in I Am Local?

Fill out an online registration form on this site or submit the hardcopy registration form.

Who chooses the images that will be used on the street banners?

An independent committee will assess all photographs and make the final decision on photographs. The images will be chosen to represent the diversity of the Randwick City Council community. Depending on the volume of entries received there is no guarantee that every photograph can be used.

How do I find out where to get my photo taken?

Once you've registered, you will be contacted with details of where you can go to have your photograph taken.

Can I have a group photo?

Unfortunately because of the very slim size of the street banners (4m long by 1.2m wide) only one face will be used on each street banner.

What's the youngest age of participants?

There's no minimum age, but the child needs to be able to sit by themselves and pose for a photograph. Participants under the age of 18 require parental or guardian consent to be involved.

Where will my banner be flown?

If you are successful, your image will be flown randomly on one of Randwick City's 151 street banner poles across Randwick, Kingsford, Kensington, Maroubra, Clovelly, Coogee and Matraville. You can see a map of street banner locations on our website: https://www.randwick.nsw.gov.au/facilities-and-recreation/using-a-public-space/banner-hire/street-banners

What happens to the banners afterwards?

Each participant will be able to keep their street banner once the project is finished!

Who can I talk to for more information?
