Open Space and Recreation Needs Study

Consultation has concluded. Community feedback is being used to assist in the development of a draft Open Space and Recreation Study, including actions and implementation plan.

There are so many ways to enjoy the great outdoors in Randwick City, whether it be for sport, spending time in nature or enjoying our coastline. We are about to create our open space and recreation needs study and want to know how you spend your time outdoors and what you would like to see in the future.

The Study will guide improvements to our parks, sporting facilities and open spaces, and assist in their future management.

If you visit any of our parks, reserves, beaches or sporting fields, we’d like to hear about how you use these spaces and facilities, what activities you do, what infrastructure is needed and what is important to you.

Due to ‘social distancing’ requirements resulting from Covid-19 we are unable to host face-to-face community engagement events to support this project. However, this doesn’t mean that engagement stops. We just had to get creative!

How to get involved:

  1. Take a quick survey
    • If you run a local sporting or recreation group, help us understand the needs and priorities for your club/group click here
    • If you are a resident, worker, business or visitor, help us understand your needs and priorities for open space and recreation click here
    • If you are under 25 years old, help us understand what young people think about open space and recreation in Randwick City and what you need for the future to have an active life click here.

  2. Have a short 'conversation'
We’ve developed an interactive conversation guide to learn more about the places you love, what you would change, and what you think are the priorities for the future planning of open spaces, sporting and recreation facilities across Randwick City. Encourage your neighbours, friends and family to jump in and provide their input too! Click here.

  3. Show us what you love
Drop a pin on our map and share what you love or what you would change about the open spaces and places you visit.

Consultation period: 2 March to 3 May 2020 (extended).

What Happens Next?
Your input and ideas will inform the Open Space and Recreation Needs Study. The Study will form the basis of the Open Space and Recreation Needs Strategy to be prepared later in 2020.

By filling out a survey you will go into the draw to WIN one of 10 passes to the Des Renford Leisure Centre.
