Do you know who Alby Smith was?

We have looked into our files but cannot find any information about why the park was named after Alby Smith or who Alby was. We are hoping there might be someone out there who can tell us.

We just had an email that said: "Alby Smith owned a small block of flats in Bream or Dolphin Street, Coogee and came from Scone or Singleton (in the Hunter). The family owned the country newspaper. He was extremely active in the Coogee (Randwick) Progress Association – he did all the work." Does anyone have any other information on who Alby Smith was or when he lived in the area?

there was a fire in 1924 at the shops at 38 burnie st and the article says the building was owned by Albert H. Smith. http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/16140340 Another article says the wife of Henry Albert Smith died in their home at 116 Mount St, coogee in 1928. http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/16444272 they may be totally different people, but worth looking into them both.
