Consultation outcome - Waste Management Strategy

Thank you to everybody who took part in Randwick City Council's Waste Management Strategy consultation and shared their thoughts on Council’s plans for managing rubbish and recycling to 2030.

We received 199 submissions and were pleased to learn that over 90% of respondents support the waste management targets set out in the draft strategy.

More than 91% of respondents strongly or very strongly support Council’s investigation of Energy from Waste technologies to achieve a target of 94% landfill diversion.

As a direct result of your feedback, we’ll be prioritising the rollout of food waste collection services in units and apartments as a priority in the next 1-5 years (previously marked for introduction in 5-10 years).

At the Ordinary Council on 22 June 2018 Council resolved to adopt the Waste Management Strategy, which will now determine how we prioritise and plan our waste management into the future.

You can view the consultation results and direct responses to individual submissions in the Council Report.
