Jackpot of kindness

At a recent night out with work colleagues trying our hand at a bit of pub trivia, we were a little shocked to find ourselves in joint first place. The next round was a ‘fall hard, fall fast’ round of heads and tails, with the overall winner taking home the jackpot of $100 and the loser getting, well, nothing. The tension in the room was palpable as the contest came right down to the wire and it was just me and another girl left standing…. My spirits soared as I dared to believe I might be the winner, the taste of victory (and a round of beers) almost sweet on my lips…only to have my hopes dashed when I crashed out as the loser, choosing ‘heads’ instead of ‘tails’. Consoling myself in the bottom of my wine glass, I was resigned to my fate, only to be deeply touched and overwhelmed when my teammate tapped me on the shoulder and offered me a note from the winning kitty to thank me for my sportsmanship. A simple gesture and yet one that was completely surprising and touching – thank you, wherever you are!
