Have you ever experienced a random act of kindness from a stranger? Or seen someone act anonymously to benefit a fellow resident of Randwick? An act of kindness can be an incredible force for good, improving the day of everyone it touches. So we want to hear your heart-warming tale and share the love with others.

If you want to tell your story of goodwill, thank a stranger or pay it forward, here’s your chance. It doesn’t need to be something big. Even the smallest gesture can make a massive difference to somebody’s day.

Share your Randwick Act of Kindness on our story board below. You will be asked to enter your email address and a screen name. Your email address will not be shown on the website, only the screen name you choose.

    food bill paid in full!!

    I was eating a meal at chat thai at around 6:30pm on the 4th of May 2017. When I got up to pay my bill, the waitress told me that a loyal customer by the name of Andrew has paid for my meal!! Such a simple act totally made my day after a long day at work. I was so encouraged by his kindness!

    Laundry Legend

    Realising my wallet was missing, I eventually retraced my steps to the self-serve laundry on Alison Road where I had done my washing earlier in the day. The owner (I don't know his name) had found it on the bench and held it for me safe behind the counter. All contents present and he wouldn't accept a reward. I now have a washing machine but I still go out of my way to give him business whenever I can.

    Peter of the good Karma

    Here on a family holiday from Littleton, Co. Tipperary, Ireland  I attended a gardening course at Randwick Community Centre on Monday last. On leaving the centre around midday I had intended walking back to Judge Street where  I am residing with my daughter Joana and son-in-law Conor. A large gardeners truck was parked at Bundock Street and I made enquiries with the owner who was finishing his lunch as to the shortest route to Judge Street.     I purchased overseas currency at Eastgardens (AU$120) and thought I had put the new currency and receipt in my pocket (I hadn’t!). A lady and gentleman found it and returned it to the money exchange booth in Eastgardens. They didn’t leave their details so I hope they read this and realise how grateful I am for their honesty and kindness.

    Lending a hand in time of need

    While sitting with my daughter who was recovering from routine surgery I overheard a conversation at Prince of Wales Hospital between a Breast Care Nurse and a young women who had just had surgery for breast cancer. The young woman spoke of how difficult she found moving around with the drain still in the wound - it was awkward to carry around.     Gift of a Lotto Purchase

    Earlier this week my 90 year old mother, supported by her walking frame, was checking her unsuccessful Lotto ticket in Randwick Shopping Centre when a lovely nearby man intervened to place in her hand a Lotto ticket just for her.

    It was a completely altruistic act made all the more beautiful by pausing further for a friendly exchange of words.  Before taking off into the busy streetscape my mother assured him that she would find him in the event of her winning and he replied 'Oh, there would be no need for that.'

    Coogee Beach - Early morning cleaning

    Randwick Council staff do an excellent job keeping Coogee Beach clean and free of litter. In addition, almost everyday at sunrise, one of our good community minded residents walks along the edge of the beach and picks up pieces of rubbish and places them in the bin. This makes the beach beautiful and a delight for all users. A big thanks to this person and the many others who contribute to keeping Coogee Beach pristine.

    You Are Amazing Leticia

    Some weeks ago I fell from the pavement outside the Randwick Ritz  and hit my head on a large piece of concrete (chicane?)  on the road. I was bleeding profusely and had broken my glasses. A very lovely young woman came to my aid, took me to the cinema ladies room and helped to stem the bleeding. She then insisted on driving me to the hospital, as being a nurse thought I needed a stitch.
