The following is the information we posted as part of the consultations.

We want to know your ideas on what we have planned for the coming year.

Randwick City Council’s draft $158 million 2014-15 Budget and Operational Plan will maintain our record $32 million direct investment in capital works, which includes road resurfacing, new footpaths, parks and building upgrades across Randwick City.

Some of the highlights of the budget include $4.3 million to build new public toilets, showers and changerooms at Coogee Beach on the lower promenade where the Lifeguard office is located, $3 million to upgrade Coogee Bay Road and bury powerlines, $800,000 to extend the Coastal Walkway, a new Council website, an upgrade to the Mahon Pool toilets and changerooms in Maroubra, $100,000 to refurbish the La Perouse Museum and $280,000 to install a stormwater harvesting system at Maroubra Beach.     Randwick City Council’s draft $158 million budget for 2014-15 is on public exhibition for community feedback from 7 May 2014 to 3 June 2014.

    The draft budget includes more than $32 million in direct investment for capital works projects, including a record $10 million for roads, footpaths, bus stop upgrades and cycling facilities.

    Randwick Mayor Scott Nash said he is proud that the Council has maintained its strong financial track record of delivering high quality services and facilities while remaining debt-free.

    “This budget continues our tradition of delivering the quality services our residents have come to expect, without any borrowings, whilst maintaining a balanced budget,” Mayor Nash said.

    “While some other councils struggle financially due to ever growing asset maintenance backlogs, Randwick City remains in a strong financial position thanks to the disciplined approach we’ve taken over a number of years.

    “Our $32 million capital works program together with our approach to asset maintenance, demonstrates just how committed we are to continually improving the Randwick City area,” he said.

    The draft program includes:
    • A record $10 million on roads, footpaths, bus stop and kerb and guttering upgrades
    • $800,000 for the extension of the Coastal Walkway
    • $4.3 million for construction of new public toilets, showers and change-rooms and associated landscaping at Coogee Beach
    • $3 million for Coogee Bay Road upgrade including new footpath paving and new street furniture (in addition to the funding already allocated for underground power)
    • $140,000 for storm water harvesting at Maroubra Beach
    • $110,000 for restoration works to the La Perouse Museum
    • $100,000 for business continuity support during the introduction of light rail
