Childcare in Randwick City: Expression of interest for focus group
Consultation has concluded
Update: The information gathered through these focus groups was used in a report regarding childcare in Randwick City that was considered at the May 2025 Ordinary Council Meeting. The report also drew on a range of sources including a survey distributed to childcare providers, and reports released by other levels of government.
Council resolved to undertake several actions, including:
- investigate parent/guardian information sessions regarding childcare
- explore improvements for waitlist practices at Moverly Children's Centre
- write to State and Federal Government to support and prioritise the provision of reducing costs for childcare.

We want to find out more about how childcare is accessed in our local community.
We are seeking parents and guardians to share their experiences in a focus group with Randwick Council staff. Two focus groups will be held on the following dates:
- Wednesday 1 May, 1:30-3pm | Des Renford Leisure Centre
Corner Robey St and Jersey Rd, Maroubra (https://www.randwick.nsw.gov.au/drlc/home)
Depending on demand, free use of the creche at Des Renford Leisure Centre may be available for the duration of the focus group. - Monday 6 May, 5:30-7pm | Lionel Bowen Library

To participate in this focus group, you must:
- care for at least one child aged 0-5 years in your household
- be a resident of, OR have childcare arrangements in, the Randwick LGA.
Complete the survey below to express your interest in participating. You only need to attend one session.
Expressions of interest close Tuesday 23 April 2024.
Participants selected to be part of the focus group will be contacted by COB Wednesday 24 April. Focus group participants will receive a $70 gift voucher as a reimbursement of their time. Light refreshments will be provided.
