Consultation has concluded.

Project update (February 2025):

Council has engaged specialist Floodplain Management consultants BMT to undertake additional works. This project will involve several key stages:

•           Reviewing and updating the existing flood model.

•           Developing and testing mitigation options within the flood model.

•           Assessing the viable mitigation options for the community.

•           Preparing a comprehensive report on these findings.

This additional scope of work includes tasks traditionally undertaken in the second phase of the floodplain management process, known as the Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan (FRMSP). Carrying out these tasks now will reduce the scope of works when the FRMSP is undertaken.

Currently, BMT are finalising updates to the existing flood model. The model size has been reduced by removing the Waverley suburbs from the model which allows for finer details of the terrain to be incorporated into the model to better reflect flooding throughout the catchment. Once the updates to the model are complete, works will commence to identify mitigation options for a number of locations throughout the catchment.

The proposed works are planned for completion in mid 2025. Following this, the work will be reviewed by the Floodplain Management Committee and Council, and further community consultation will be conducted.

Council will continue to provide updates on this web page as the project progresses.

Randwick City Council and Waverley Council consulted with property owners and residents in Clovelly and Waverley in February 2018, to understand the extent of flooding in the catchment and to assist in the preparation of a flood study.
