Randwick City Council is developing a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), an internal policy document that will strengthen our commitment to reconciliation and foster positive relationships with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
We are developing a Reflect RAP, the first of four stages in the reconciliation journey. Our draft Reflect RAP follows the outline provided by Reconciliation Australia.
Randwick City has a rich and unique Aboriginal cultural history, with the Aboriginal community of La Perouse having an unbroken connection to the land. Council wishes to support the vision and plans of the local Aboriginal community to close the gap on disadvantage, build stronger local and regional economies, and support culturally vibrant, healthy communities.
Our commitment to this Reflect RAP means that we will:
Engage our staff in understanding the importance of reconciliation
Develop relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders
Chatting with us at our Maroubra Beach Markets stall on Saturday 3 May 2025 (weather permitting)
Sending a response headed 'Reconciliation Action Plan' to council@randwick.nsw.gov.au or 30 Frances St Randwick, 2031
For further information, please have a read of our FAQs or visit the Reconciliation Australia website.
Feedback open: 7 April to 5 May 2025.
Please note that our draft Reflect RAP document is presented in a template format. It will be professionally designed by local Aboriginal artist Shane Youngberry, following outcomes of community consultation and endorsement by Reconciliation Australia.
