Feedback and EOI's for the Floodplain Committee have now closed.

The draft Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan (FRMSP) will be reported to Council late 2023, seeking endorsement to put the FRMSP on exhibition for community feedback.

Council is developing a Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan (FRMSP) for the Birds Gully and Bunnerong Road catchment.

The draft FRMSP is expected to go on public exhibition in early 2024. In the meantime, Council is seeking community input to identify new incidents of flooding in the catchment, not previously reported to Council.

In addition, we are seeking expressions of interest from community members interested in joining the Birds Gully and Bunnerong Road Floodplain Management Committee.

Property owners and residents are invited to nominate to be one of three community representatives on the committee. Nominees need to demonstrate their suitability for this role and how they meet the selection criteria. The first meeting of the committee will be held on Wednesday 8 November 2023.

The Birds Gully and Bunnerong Road Flood Study is a joint project between Randwick City Council and Bayside Council. The study was finalised and adopted by Council on 25 September 2018.

    • Interest in conserving, maintaining or protecting the natural environment
    • Ability to be part of the team and meet the common objective of the committee
    • Appreciation of Council’s role and capabilities
    • Willing to participate in constructive discussion regarding issues relating to flooding and disaster management
    • Ability to represent community views in the floodplain management process


    Applications close 29 October 2023, with the intention of holding the first meeting of the committee on Wednesday 8 November 2023.
