Alison Park Playground Upgrade

Please widen the footpath between the playground and the bench seats along Abbey St - it's a very, very high traffic area of the park. Parents with children and their strollers are constantly walking along that section. The Coogee Boys Preparatory School kids walk along there every day to and from the park - it's a bottleneck. The seats along there are not used because of the constant foot traffic.

I like option 2 because it has a monkey bar and big slide. It's so cool (my daughter says)

I think the playground needs to have a good mix of activities for kids of all ages. Water bubblers, bathrooms nearby, seating area all important for families - but so is an engaging space that kids want to play in. If I could add anything, it might be a water play station.

Option 1 gets our vote. Would love to see lots to indigenous planting and perhaps some adjacent amenities to cater for families i.e some additional periphery seating and shade

Hello, glad to see progress on this project and prefer the urban one. Is it possible to have new toilets or upgrade the existing one? It would make such a big difference for gatherings and for in general, otherwise there is no real option but to go to the shops. Please consider, thank you.

Concepts look great! I hope we will be getting new water bubblers/ water bottle refill stations as the current one is difficult to use and it’s so important for the kids to stay hydrated in our weather!

I normally prefer more natural play, but don’t feel option one is or looks more natural play. I voted option two as seems to have more equipment, and especially keen to see a toddler play set as this park attracts all ages. If there was room for two trampolines next to each other it would be great. And more swings! Always a queue! And it would be great to have one of those double swings with an adult and child seat together (work really well for big bro little bro as well as parent/child). Wonder if there will still be a sandy area, my kids love taking cars/diggers and playing in the sand…

Prefer natural materials but reluctantly voting #2 as my children love monkey bars. Appreciate the investment in this facility (and yes, Snape Park next please!) but quite disappointed at the lack of landscaping and natural surfaces - vast amounts of bright softfall is not appealing

Great to see these options, but both need to go through another round of design iteration and costing to see how the color scheme can blend better with the environment. Option 1 has better materials but agree with other comments that the tones are really hot making them feel jarring which undoes the “nature” concept. Option 2 has great layout, but I think the materials are really unsuitable for beachside play equipment from an environmental standpoint. Can we see option 1 with the color palate better matched to the coastal location plus some of the preferred equipment from option 2 (ie. swings, shade). A really good example of a successful playground that blends in is the Centennial Park kids play area & Bondi Beach. Good to see this come so far!

They both look great, but we prefer the 'Urban feel' option as this will bring families to our neighbourhood and help our local cafes etc. Also children like colour, come on!? This is what we need here in Randwick community. There's a timber playground in Clovelly already.

I am delighted and happy that our community was able to give our children a space for everyone and the school to have a modern and organized playground thank you to everyone who worked so that our children and those in the community have a great play area!

I feel the urban option has more for the kids to do. It would be great to include TWO sets of swings as these are ALWAYS popular. The kids also love the in ground trampolines...any chance they can squeeze in two of these?
Its also nice to see option 2 include a toddler play area for the smaller kids! There is not enough of these!

on a diff note: another shade cloth is required in the govett reserve playground. the swings are in direct sun for the hottest part of the day!!

It would be great if one or two of those parent and child together swings could be put in - the ones where the adult can sit and face the child and swing with them instead of having to stand behind and push. Also more swings are never a bad thing - kids are ALWAYS waiting to get on a swing!!

I prefer the layout of the urban feel, it has more for the kids to do, I esp like the trampolines. however the colours are not very nice and really jar the eye, I prefer the more natural feel of the nature option.
If I had to specifically pick one of these exact designs, it would be the Nature.

While you're reading this, we also need more fully fenced dog parks. There is only one in our area.

I can't honest;y vote for either. I'd prefer Option 1 except the bright yellow and orange ground materials are horrible colours. With Option 2 I hate the lime green of the huge slide. The lime green less intrusive on the other items. Use subtler ground colours for Option 1 and it would have my vote.

How much is this costing? Do our rates need to rise to accommodate this project?

Hello, thank you for the opportunity to vote on the Alison park playground. We were recently in Symbio Wildlife park and the outdoor area there was amazing. All the kids were obsessed with the mini bouncers that were built into the ground - like little trampolines. They were all having so much fun bouncing and I think there is so much space in Alison Park to include a few of these.

Could you please look at Snape Park playground soon - it’s very outdated but very much loved by all the community.
