Consultation has concluded.
Randwick Council endorsed the Community Engagement Strategy at its meeting on 13 December 2022 and the strategy is now in effect. You can read the Council Report for summary of the community feedback received during the public exhibition period.
Randwick City Council has prepared a Community Engagement Strategy (CES) which outlines how and when we will engage with our community on planning, Council projects and other matters of relevance to the local community.
In July and August this year, we asked for your voice; to share your experiences engaging with Council and tell us how you would like to be consulted in the future.
What we heard:
| Community Engagement Survey | Randwick 100 Forum |
| An online survey to gather resident's opinions on the importance of consultation, how they engage, how they want to be engaged, and expectations about consultation on development matters. | An insightful discussion with 100 representative Randwick City residents about what the community wants to be engaged on, how and when. |

Community Engagement Strategy:
What we heard from the survey and Randwick 100 has directly informed the development of the CES, which sets out overarching principles, processes, and techniques for community engagement.
The CES replaces our current Community Participation Plan (CPP). Some of the key changes include:
- Notifying tenants about Development Applications (as well as owners).
- Minimum exhibition periods of 28 days for all Council consultations (excluding DA’s which are 14 days).
- Holding regular Let’s Chat face to face pop up events.
- Forming Reference Groups to consult with harder to reach groups.
To learn more about how the new Strategy differs from the CPP, view our easy-to-read table.
