The Code of Meeting Practice was adopted by Council at its Ordinary Meeting on Tuesday 26 July 2022, you can read the Council report here. View the adopted Code of Meeting Practice here

We are reviewing our Code of Meeting Practice based on the Office of Local Government’s Model Code of Meeting Practice for Local Councils in NSW 2020.

The Code of Meeting Practice applies to all meetings of Council and committees of Council of which all the members are Councillors.

It outlines the key principles all Council and committee meetings are expected to follow to ensure the following:

  • Decisions are made in a way that is open and accountable.
  • Decisions are made based on relevant, quality information.
  • Decisions respect the diverse needs and interests of the local community.
  • Decisions are informed by the principles prescribed under Chapter 3 of the Act.
  • The community has confidence that councillors and staff act ethically and make decisions in the interests of the whole community.
  • Councillors, staff and meeting attendees treat each other with respect.
  • Meeting are well organised, effectively run and skilfully chaired.
  • Councillors, staff and meeting attendees behave in a way that contributes to the orderly conduct of the meeting.

We invite you to read the draft Code of Meeting Practice and share your thoughts by:

  • Completing an online submission below
  • Sending your comments headed "Code of Meeting Practice" to the General Manager by email council@randwick.nsw.gov.au or mail to 30 Frances Street, Randwick NSW 2031.

This policy is on public exhibition from Friday 27 May 2022 to 9am, 24 June 2022.
Submission are required to be received prior to close of business on 11 July 2022.
