Report to Council
A report will be presented at the Ordinary Council Meeting on 18 November 2025.
The report recommends installing festoon lighting along Coogee Bay Road between Arden and Brook streets. The lighting aims to create a welcoming atmosphere and improve safety for evening visitors.
Community feedback showed strong overall support for the proposal, with many respondents highlighting its potential to enhance the night-time experience and improve safety.
We also heard concerns about light pollution and visual impact. To address these, directional fittings will be used to minimise light spill and reduce impacts on nearby residents.

Lighting trial approved
Council endorsed the trial of festoon lighting along Coogee Bay Road.

Randwick City Council is proposing a trial of festoon lighting along Coogee Bay Road between Arden Street and Brook Street.
If endorsed, the trial is expected to commence in December 2025 and run for up to six months. The lights will be installed in a ladder pattern across the street. The lighting trial has a budget allocation of $123,000.
Festoon lighting helps brighten the streetscape, encouraging evening activity and supporting local businesses by creating a welcoming environment for dining, shopping and gathering.
