Specifically, the Kensington West KingsfordLATM study aims to
Improve the safety of pedestrians, bike riders and other road users
Safely integrate pedestrian and bicycle facilities into new traffic calming treatments
Discourage the use of local roads for through traffic and promote the use of main road for such purposes
Maintain a good level of connectivity and accessibility for local road users
Encourage motorists in residential areas to adhere to appropriate speeds
Enhance the liveability of the area, via traffic management strategies, while ensuring appropriate traffic access for residents.
We want to hear of your experiences in moving around Kensington and West Kingsford, as a pedestrian, a public transport user, a bike rider or as a motorist.
Sending your comments headed "Kensington West Kingsford LATM" to council@randwick.nsw.gov.au or to 30 Frances Street, Randwick 2031
The LATM study will also be informed by current and historic traffic data, examination of existing traffic management arrangements and a review of previously proposed LATM treatments.
In 2013, Council initiated a LATM study for the Kensington West Kingsford area in response to community concerns regarding traffic issues. However, the study was paused due to the announcement of the Light Rail project. The findings from the initial consultation will be taken into consideration to compare the present situation with the conditions existing prior to the construction of the light rail.
Feedback open: 11 September to 9am 24 October 2023 (extended).
