Stage 2: Draft Plan of Management public exhibition

THIS CONSULTATION STAGE HAS CONCLUDED: 22 August to 23 September

Following on from our stage one consultation where we asked you what you love about Kensington Park and how we can improve it, we have taken your ideas and aspirations to develop a Draft Plan of Management and draft Landscape Concept Plan for the park.

Some of the great ideas we received included a continuous walkway around the oval, an outdoor gym for all abilities, extending the kids playground and providing more seating to sit and enjoy the open space.

View the Draft Plan and tell us what you think by sending a written submission using the link below.

We also invite you to come to our drop-in sessions at Kensington Park on Saturday 3 September, 9am to 11am or Wednesday 7 September, 3pm to 5pm to discuss the draft plan with Council staff. We will be located near the John Calopedos Memorial Playground.

Stage 1: Preparation for Draft Plan of Management

THIS CONSULTATION STAGE HAS CONCLUDED: 17 June to 1 July 2016

Randwick City Council is preparing a Plan of Management and concept design for Kensington Park and Oval to guide future improvements to the park over the next 10 years and create better linkages to the surrounding neighbourhood, such as the Council nursery.

Kensington Park is categorised as a district park and as such will continue to accommodate organised sporting activities and be an important place for local residents and families to use.

As a first stage we wanted to know what you love about the park and what you think could be improved.

To do this, we invited you to:

  • complete a short 5 minute survey
  • share your ideas for new features we can consider in the plan
  • share your stories about the park
You can view a summary of the consultation results here.

Please note there is no intention to change the park's on-leash status for dogs and organised sport will continue to be a major focus for the park.

At the Ordinary Council meeting on 25 October 2016, Council resolved to endorse the Plan of Management for Kensington Park. The Plan was written following a detailed consultation with local residents, and at the meeting Councillors responded to additional community feedback by deciding to remove the ping pong tables.

The Plan of Management will guide future improvements to the park over the next 10 years, and each year Council will allocate funds to those future works identified in the plan. This is an exciting step forward for the long term management of the park and Council may consult with the community again as proposed projects within the plan are allocated funding.
