Consultation has concluded

The new Matraville Youth and Cultural Hall is open for community use. For more information on the hall, visit our website here.

To celebrate the new building, Council is hosting a range of free onsite activities from Wed 8 May to Mon 13 May 2024.  

New hall design on public exhibition

Plans for the new Matraville Youth and Cultural Hall are now on public exhibition as part of the development application process to construct the new hall. The project will see a new hall with a generous covered forecourt, new accessible toilets, new kitchen and improved ventilation and lighting.

All submissions will be considered as part of the detailed planning assessment, and the development application will be determined by the Randwick Local Planning Panel later this year.

Randwick Council has allocated funds in Council’s Budget for 2020-21 to build a new hall at the site of the Matraville Youth & Cultural Hall on Knowles Avenue, Matraville.

The existing building dates from the 1960s, is in poor condition and is not serving the community well. It will be demolished and a new building constructed on the same site.

To help inform Council’s design for the new hall we’re seeking input from the community. Have you ever used the hall? What was your experience? What would make you use it in the future and what activities would you like to see offered?

Your feedback is important to ensure we can deliver a facility that works for the community and is sensitive to its residential setting.

Tell us your thoughts by:

Consultation period: 23 September to 13 October 2020.

The next stage of the project will be develop a design for the new hall using your feedback.
