Project update: At the Ordinary Council meeting on 17 November 2020, Council resolved to support the Chifley Sports Reserve and Clovelly Beach pop-up pedal parks next winter after community consultation found support for the initiative. The Clovelly site will be reduced in size in 2021 to address concerns from residents about traffic flow and parking loss.

When Randwick City’s local beaches and playgrounds were closed a few months ago to help stop the spread of Covid-19, our community got creative and turned car parks into bike tracks, speed humps into scooter jumps and car spaces into hand ball courts!

Kids and adults loved it, so when our beaches and playgrounds reopened, Council set up temporary pedal parks at the Clovelly Beach and Chifley Sports Reserve car parks to provide the community with safe and accessible space for outdoor recreation.

The pop-ups are in place from 26 June to 31 August 2020. We’ve received lots of feedback from the community, some who are enjoying the extra space and others who are concerned about the loss of parking. You can view maps showing the location and size of the pop-ups here.

We would love your feedback on the pop-up pedal parks. Have you used them? Do you think we should do this again next year? If so, when and how much space should be provided?

How can you give us your feedback?
