Snape Park, Maroubra Outdoor Gym
Consultation has concluded.
The Snape Park outdoor gym was opened in February 2023. Thank you to all who contributed to the consultation. You can read more about the gym here and the outcomes of the consultation here.
Randwick Council is planning to build a new outdoor gym at Snape Park, Maroubra.
With outdoor personal fitness being one of the most popular recreation activities in Randwick City*, our Open Space and Recreation Strategy promises to deliver more access to free, informal outdoor recreation opportunities, including outdoor gyms.
Randwick City’s first outdoor gym was installed at Maroubra Beach in 2013. Since then, we have built gyms at Clovelly, Chifley, Frenchmans Bay, Kensington, Coogee and Malabar. We are also proposing to build another new outdoor gym at Barwon Park, Matraville.
The Snape Park gym will provide a range of equipment such as pull down, leg press, elliptical trainer, aerobic cycle, dexterity builder and a challenge station with roman rings and gorilla bars. The design is suitable for people of all ages, abilities and fitness levels.
The equipment will be made from corrosion-resistant metal and instructional signage will be installed on each piece of equipment.
The design also proposes a walking track around the perimeter of the gym with distance markings. The track can be used by older gym users to test how far they can walk in 6 minutes and use the track regularly to increase their walking distance.
We are seeking your feedback to learn more about how you will use the gym, when you would visit and where it should be located.
We are proposing to locate the gym near the children’s playground on the corner of Percival and Storey Streets, Maroubra. See our map.
