This consultation has concluded.
The outcomes of this community consultation are being reported to the Randwick Council Meeting of 28 February 2023 for consideration and to adopt the updated Street Banners Policy. You may like to read the Council Report (GM2/23 p19) and Community Consultation Outcomes Report.
Randwick City Council flies more than 100 street banners across our City at Coogee, Clovelly, Randwick, Kensington, Maroubra, Little Bay and Matraville.
The purpose of the banner program is to visually enhance our town centres, promote events and activities, enhance our sense of community and place, support local business and our local community including cultural and artistic groups.
The banners are mostly used to promote Council events and festivals, to commemorate seasons and to mark community celebrations.
The banners change regularly and are mostly designed in house by Council staff and printed and installed by Council contractors.
The program is governed by the Street Banner Policy. This policy was recently updated by Council and is now on public exhibition for comment.
Key elements of the policy include:
Defining the purpose of the street banner program
Permitting external applicants to hire, at cost, street banner poles
Supporting local artistic, cultural and community groups access the banner poles through grants and waiving hiring fees
We want to know what you think about our street banners.
Feedback period: 5 December 2022 to 23 January 2023.
