About the draft program
The key features of the draft program are:
- All pool owners must register their pools on the state-wide register by 29 October 2013.
- Once registered, pool owners must complete a self assessment of their swimming pool.
Council will also implement a risk-based inspection program for other privately owned swimming pools that are:
- Located on residential properties with more than two dwellings (e.g. flats, dual occupancy) - inspected every three years.
- Located in tourist and visitor accommodation (e.g. hotels, motels, serviced apartments, backpackers) - inspected every three years.
- Subject to an application for a Certificate of Compliance or a Building Certifcate received by Council.
- Identified by the community or Council as having unsafe fencing or barriers.
Council will also inspect other privately owned swimming pools based on identified risks and available resources.
