Entry and voting in the 2017 Architecture and Urban Design Awards is now closed.

Voting is now open for the Randwick City Architecture and Urban Design Awards People’s Choice Award. To vote, view the entries and nominate the one that you think showcases the best design. There is one vote per person and voting for the People’s Choice Award is open to any member of the public until Friday 22 September 2017.

There is one vote per person and voting for the People’s Choice Award is open to any member of the public until Friday 22 September 2017.
Entries are also on display at Council’s Customer Service Centre and all three Randwick City libraries.
Official judging is underway for the other award categories, these include:
Best House
The category applies to new single detached houses, semi-detached dwellings or dual occupancies.
Best Apartment Projects comprising new residential flat buildings, multi-dwelling housing/townhouses, attached dwellings/terraces, boarding houses or student accommodation.
Best Alteration and Renovation
Projects relating to alterations and additions for new and existing: - single detached houses, semi-detached dwellings or dual occupancies, or - residential flat buildings, multi-dwelling housing/townhouses, attached dwellings/terraces, boarding houses or student accommodation.
Best Conservation Project This comprises projects relating to a heritage conservation area, and/or a heritage listed building or structure under the Randwick LEP or State Heritage Register.
Best Urban Project This category applies to: - projects of a commercial, institutional or public nature, including churches, schools, research centres, office buildings, shopping centres, mixed use buildings, and buildings predominantly for public use, or
-projects comprising of private and communal open spaces in apartment and mixed use developments, landscaped spaces in commercial and public buildings, streetscape and public domain improvements, parks and public open spaces, and master planning and site design.
People’s Choice Award This comprises all projects and members of the public select their favourite via open vote.
The Hi-Vis Prize Randwick City Council’s outdoor staff will vote for their favourite entry.
Awards for entries in each category will be assessed on their:
Relationship to the urban and natural environment
Contribution to contemporary and/or historic settings
Environmental sustainability
Excellence in design
All entries will be put on public display including Council’s website to be entered into the People’s Choice Award. A panel of expert judges will assess and shortlist those entries which best meet the award criteria for each category.
