Project update: The Maroubra Beach outdoor gym is now open! See our news story for more details.
Randwick City Council is planning a new outdoor gym at the south end of Maroubra Beach.
With outdoor personal fitness being one of the most popular recreation activities in Randwick City*, our Open Space and Recreation Strategy promises to deliver more access to free, informal outdoor recreation opportunities, including outdoor gyms.
The current outdoor gym at the north end of Maroubra Beach was installed in 2013, next to Maroubra Beach Playground.
This gym will be uninstalled so that we can upgrade and expand the playground. There will be a separate community consultation regarding the playground upgrade later in the year.
The new outdoor gym is planned to be at the south end of the beach, next to Maroubra Skate Park. Brand new equipment will be used at this location - we're proposing equipment such as pull up bars, monkey bars, a sit up bench, elliptical trainer, and an aerobic cycle.
We want to learn more about what kind of gym equipment you would like to see at this outdoor gym, and whether you would prefer a concrete or softfall surface.
Have your say by:
- Viewing our concept plan
- Completing our survey below
- Sending your comments headed 'Maroubra Beach outdoor gym' to council@randwick.nsw.gov.au or to 30 Frances St, Randwick, 2031.
Feedback open: 24 February to 25 March 2025.
Update: If you received a paper flyer, please note that there is an error in the legend. The proposed challenge station equipment currently includes a leg raise station, instead of parallel bars. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
